HOG Profile - Mike Moore

1) When and how did you first get into riding a Harley? I bought my first Harley after I wrecked my Kawasaki Nomad I had for 2 years.

2) How long have you been riding? As a young boy I loved anything with wheels and was facinated with movies like Roustabout, Easy Rider and Hell's Angel 69 and such but wasn't permitted to ride them.  After having a family I started to ride dirt bikes with friends which led to my getting my first street bike.  It was  a 250cc Yamaha, which I proceeded to burn up by riding it as fast as it would go.  From there it was a 650 Suzuki which I sold.  I then tried to stay away from motorcycles due to my lust for speed and an effort to prolong my existence.  Then in about 2002 some coworkers began to ride to work and kep needling me to buy a bike and ride with them.  I finally gave in and bought a 2006 Nomad that Chris Franklin showed me on ebay.  From that day I have been consumed by the thrill of wind in my face and the wide open road.

3) What is your favorite trip or place to ride? As of yet I can't say what is my favorite trip or place exactly.  I like riding in the mountains of Arkansas, The Hill Country of Texas, and the trip to Las Vegas and back was a blast.  There are so many places to go and see, and I want to do it all.  I am looking forward to exploring that all Texas has to offer.

4) What gives you the greatest thrill while riding? God's great land, seeing places I may never have seen otherwise, and meeting so many interesting people.  The smells, the wind in my face, the sound of the big V Twin.  I love riding with Melissa Tatom, my best riding partner, whom is the last person I ever thought would love it as much as I do.

5) What is your best memory associated with riding? The first to come to mind is overlooking the Ozark Mountains on one of the first trips Melissa and I took together.  If you think there is no God you haven't seen those beautiful mountains.

6) What do you do in your 'other' life and how does your Harley fit in with that? In my "other" life I  am a transport officer for the State of Texas.  Riding my Harley doesn't fit in with that lifestyle.  Instead, it is my therapy.  I regain my sanity and become human again when riding my Harley.

7) What is your philosophy of riding? Ride safe, ride free.  Don't set too many boundries.  Hang loose and enjoy the ride while you can.  Make good memories.  Life is too short.  Ride on, brothers!
